London’s Time Out Magazine July 25th 2001 lists the Concert Platform among 50 reasons why London is the most beautiful city in the world.
Jessica Cargill Thompson, features editor describes it thus:
“an imposing sheet of rusty CorTen steel cantilevered out over the still lake. Architect Ian Ritchie has imbued this simple structure with the dramatic presence of the monolith from ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’ and the vibrant colours of autumn leaves.” The Time Out list of 50 delights includes, views and landscapes, markets, shops of character (fashion, chemist, bakery), restaurants, specific paintings by Valasquez, Rubens, Titian, Monet, Turner, Bonnard and Wilson’s ‘The Oil Room’, the London Underground map and the Piccadilly Line stations.
Time Out last featured one of Ian Ritchie Architects’ works when it listed the Bruce Nauman exhibition which we designed at the Hayward Gallery among the top ten exhibitions of the decade, 1990-2000.
