The RSC’s first writing festival of dangerous and exciting new plays will take place in the new theatre from 27 July – 27 August.
The Other Place has emerged from the Courtyard Theatre’s transformation into a creative hub for learning, research and development with rehearsal rooms and a 200-seat studio theatre. It will host two festivals of new work every year in The Other Place. Local amateur groups can use the theatre for rehearsals and performances, and the venue provides additional performance space for the RSC’s work with young people and the local community.
The Other Place has also been planned and designed for commercial hires, raising valuable income to support our artistic programme. The University of Birmingham is a founding partner in The Other Place theatre in Stratford. The RSC’s new five year collaboration with the University is based on a mutual aspiration to develop The Other Place theatre as a unique hub for rehearsal, training, learning and creativity, with artists and academics working alongside each other.
