Peter Rice is considered to be Ireland’s greatest ever engineer, and a recently published book, Traces of Peter Rice, edited by Kevin Barry, explores his legacy.
This book, along with the life and work of Peter Rice, will be discussed on Ireland’s national radio, RTÉ’s Arts Tonight at 10pm on the 25th February.
The programme will include a contribution from Ian Ritchie, who was Peter’s partner for a decade in their Paris based design engineering firm Rice Francis Ritchie (RFR). RFR contributed to some of Paris’s most iconic works including the Louvre pyramids and sculpture courts, the revolutionary structural glass enclosures at La Villette, l’Arche de la Défense and Roissy airport Terminal 2F.
Linked to the book is an exhibition, Traces of Peter Rice, currently running at Arup’s Phase 2 exhibition space, 8 Fitzroy Street, London:
The exhibition tours to the Centre Culturel Irlandais from 14 May-28 June and then to the Farmleigh Gallery in Dublin in the autumn.
