Ian Ritchie has accepted the invitation to judge Impressions – the National Open Print Biennale in 2019 in Galway, Ireland and an integral part of Galway International Arts Festival.
The exhibition imPRESSions will take place during the Galway International Arts Festival, Ireland’s largest annual arts festival and celebrates its 42nd anniversary in 2019 from 15th to the 28th July in the city of Galway.
It will be located at Cluain Mhuire Centre for the Creative Arts and Media.
imPRESSions is the first and longest running National Open Print Exhibition. For more than twenty-five years it has maintained its excellent record for producing high quality print exhibitions and has become a landmark show in the Irish arts calendar. Impressions is a not-for-profit organisation and is run by a team of volunteers motivated by their passion and excitement about print as a medium for making art. An essential objective is to stimulate and engage a wider audience and to create a greater awareness of the historical and cultural specifics of printmaking. It aims to highlight the intrinsic aspects of printmaking, such as multiplicity and accessibility and to stimulate new ways of thinking about and working with the process.
Previous judges have been Noman Ackroyd RA, Chris Orr RA, Robert Kennan (Bonham ), RE President: David Ferry, and Jason Hicklin.
